Research- Trends of Children's TV Drama's

Using Broadcasters' Audience Research Board (BARB)
I have produced some research showing the trends of ratings from Children's TV Drama similar to the style that my target audience favored ranging from 2004 - 2008

Using the ratings for CBBC,I have highlighted when A Childrens TV drama similar to the one I aim to create appears in the top 10.

Tracy Beaker & Big Kids - Children's TV Drama Highest Ratings W/E 25th Jan 2004

Tracy Beaker takes top 7 spaces in highest ratings - W/E 30th Jan 2005

Tracy Beaker in top 10. (Mortified also a children's TV Drama is in the top 10 however this is an Australian Drama.) W/E 27th Jan 2008

This evidence shows me that Tracy Beaker which is a children's TV drama is in the top 10 from 2004- 2008, this is useful to me as when i create my TV drama i can see that having a central character/ Characters that the series focus' on is a key aspect. Also this shows that children enjoy to watch programmes with issues they can relate too, this evidence backs up the information I received from my questionnaire.

Also I have been investigating which channel my children's TV drama would be best broadcast on. I looked at CBBC and CITV, below are my results from BARB. This shows me that CBBC would be a better choice of channel as children's TV Drama's already have a good audience (for example Tracy Beaker is No.1) however it might be an innovative idea to broadcast onto CITV as it has a less competition from other drama of this kind as many of the programmes shown are animation.

Using the table below you can also see that CBBC's number 1 has 433,000 views where as CITV's top spot only has 208,000. This will also be a major factor in my choice of which channel to broadcast on.
